This page hosts our children and young people's participation strategy for Highland. This strategy has been co-designed with young people, using the thoughts and opinions of children and young people across Highland in relation to what Participation should look, sound and feel like.

A massive thank you to all of the children and young people across Highland who have been part of engagement sessions, who have filled in our survey and who have provided feedback along the way. Further thanks to the group of young people who facilitated this work and who went on to write the strategy with us. We couldn't have done it without you all!

Thanks also to the adults on our steering group and writing group who have provided so much guidance and expertise. This is the beginning of our journey in Highland, we want to learn from existing good practice and grow with it. Our implementation group is underway and we will use this website to share updates and progress over the coming weeks, months and years!

A massive thank you goes to the team at Inspiring Young Voices who collectively worked on the Easy Read version of the strategy. Young people who co-wrote the original version of the strategy, and were involved in the initial engagement sessions were central to this work.

They also shared the Easy Read with groups of children and young people to gather their feedback before finalising the document that you see above.

The strategy engagement sessions carried out with children and young people identified 6 key themes. These can be seen within the jigsaw above.

This website will provide information and signposting about children's rights and participation and how we can all work together to foster meaningful participation and uphold children's rights.
