Article 31 of the UNCRC focuses on children's right to rest, relax and play, and highlights that adults have a responsibility to ensure that this can happen in a safe, relaxing and stimulating environment.
There is an expectation that children should be part of planning for activities in their own communities. It also requests that the government makes sure that it is easy for children to do this, whether or not they have a disability.
On the 24th March 2025, the Scottish Government launched 'Scotland's Play Vision Statement and Action Plan'.
