The Local Action Group are calling on young people to join the new Highland Youth Local Action Group (YLAG).
Highland YLAG will be responsible for setting local priorities and delivering a Youth Action Fund which supports youth initiatives across rural Highland.
The first Highland YLAG residential trip will be hosted in May, where the group will meet each other and connect with the Cairngorms YLAG, to learn how YLAGs across Scotland are having an impact.
Young people aged 16-30 who live in Highland and are interested in rural action are invited to express their interest in joining Highland YLAG here.
If you have any questions, please direct them to: enquiries@hiclimatehub.co.uk.
Thanks to the Community-Led Local Development Funding for supporting Highland YLAG.
It's that time of year again!
Applications have gone live for the Highland Youth Convener Post. Commencing in August 2025 for a one-year period.
Applications are welcomed for this for this key post and it would be fantastic if this opportunity can be shared as widely as possible with young people who may be interested.
Current Youth Convener, Lauren McKittrick explains:
"The Highland Youth Convener role is as important as it is unique. It creates a vital and direct relationship between young people in the Highlands and those who have the ability to make change. To engage with the Highlands’ young people and represent their interests to senior officials and community planning partners offers a great deal of satisfaction, and I would encourage any enthusiastic young person who seeks to champion the voice of young people to take up this opportunity.”
For more information, or to apply for the post, visit My Job Scotland.

Youth Highland is carrying out a consultation with young people from Easter Ross and Black Isle about Green Energy.
This survey will take about 5 minutes to complete. We would love it if you could take the time to fill it out for us.
Findings will be presented in a report which will be used by the Associated British Ports to help them plan learning and training opportunities to help young people get into Green Energy Industries in the future.
Youth Highland would be really grateful if you would take 5 minutes to complete this online survey.
They will have a lucky draw and one winner will win a £20 voucher – you never know, it could be YOU!
Youth Highland have been funded by Bairns Hoose to carry out a consultation with young people to help better understand what components and elements are required to provide ‘safe spaces’ for children and young people.
They are looking to carry out surveys, focus groups and one to one conversations with young people.
Through the consultation process they will seek to have conversations with young people who do and do not engage in diversionary leisure activities , and young people who have and have not been involved in the criminal justice system.
The consultation process will be carried out using fun and interactive methods.
They would like to come and visit your organisation and meet with the young people that you work with.
For more information or to get involved, please contact clair.wallace@youthhighland.org.uk to arrange a time that best suits you and the groups that you work with.
The Highland Child Protection Committee (HCPC) and the Children and Young People's Centre for Justice (CYCJ) have worked together to create a resource for supporting children and young people from across Highland to have their voice heard.
HCPC want to ensure that children and young people's views and rights are at the centre of youth justice service design and recognise and are committed to #KeepingThePromise where one of the 5 foundations are VOICE. This states that children and young people should be actively and meaningfully included in decisions about their care.
If you would like to get involved and have your say on:
Understanding Rights
Safe spaces to talk to trusted adults
Experiences of the justice system
Then please contact the HCPC Team and they will find the best person to link you up with to have your voice heard.
